Sarcastic tone
The sarcastic tone in Amazon reviews was used to identify positive and negative reviews. We analysed 5000 reviews and classified them as "Sarcastic" (or "Nonsarcastic") Next, we divided these reviews into five categories based upon their sarcastic tone. These results showed that product reviews with a sarcastic tone were less likely to be positive when compared with those with a neutral tone.
This study was based on reviews with two stars, which shows the classifier's highest performance. We used reviews with a 2 star rating to get the best precision and recall. The same dataset was used to identify sarcasm, but we also used reviews that were less supportive. We found that 2-star reviews have a more sarcastic tone to them than other reviews.
